James RONALD was born about 1770 and became a perfumer and hairdresser in Montrose.  He married Jane FAIRLEY in 1794 and they had six or seven children in Montrose.  Jane died in 1812 and James in 1814.

Soon after, the family moved to Aberdeen, where the youngest daughter, Jane, married Alexander STEVENSON, an organ-builder in Aberdeen.

Jane moved to London for a few years before Alexander died and she returned to Aberdeen. She lived with her married children in Aberdeen before moving to Glasgow to be near her eldest married daughter.  She died there in 1878.
