My MORTLOCK family has been traced to the South-Western corner of Suffolk, particularly the village of Hundon.  The first MORTLOCK family in the parish began baptising children in 1693.  Probably Richard-7 was one of their sons, but this is not known for sure.

His son Samuel also raised his family in Hundon, but after the death of his wife, he moved some 40 miles to the little village of Paglesham in Essex, for reasons unknown.  He was a yeoman farmer, owning property back in Suffolk.

His daughter Susannah moved to Paglesham with him, and here she married William SKINGLY three years after the death of her father.
