John
HALLEY, probably the son of Andrew HALLEY, married Margaret ALLAN at Fowlis
Wester, Perthshire in 1677. They
baptised 8 children at Fowlis while living at a nearby farm called Upper
Gorthy. Their
son John married Margaret SUTTER and
baptised 7 children at Fowlis while living on the same farm, Upper
Gorthy. Their
daughter Ann married William THOMSON in 1742 and went to live in her
husband's parish of Methven. The
following year however, William was hung for murdering his brother. 5 years later, Anne remarried Patrick BAIN
and returned with him to a farm called Fornought, only a mile from where she
was born. |
