Baylis a relatively common name in Oxfordshire and there are several Johns born around 1700 who could have married Susanna Baylis at Bloxham.
One of their sons, William moved to the close-by parish of Broughton and raised six children there. One son John moved again six miles to marry and baptise eight children in the village of Tysoe in Warwickshire.
No record has been found of the occupation of these men. Most probably they were agricultural labourers as the area is good agricultural land, but weaving was also carried out using local wool.
Two of William's sons moved to neighbouring Brailes, while two daughters moved further south to Kirtlington. One of them, Hannah, married William YOUNG a butcher, while the other became a servant to another William YOUNG, a farmer.
